Description

The spectrum of children’s sexual behaviours varies from normal curiosity to behaviours which are seriously concerning.  Educators need to understand children’s sexual development be able to confidently identify and sensitively respond to children’s sexual behaviours. There could be occasions when a child’s behaviour indicates that they may be at risk of harm and the educator will need to take a protective response.  This workshop is an overview of children’s sexual behaviours which focuses on giving educators the skills to be able classify sexual behaviours from normal to problematic and or harmful and to respond appropriately at the time the behaviour is observed. In addition, the workshop includes strategies to support educators in confidently teaching young children key personal safety messages.
