Documenting with children (1 day event)
Description
Is our approach to documentation serving us well? Is the emergence of documentation fatigue becoming a common phenomenon among early childhood educators?
This exploration into documentation will create space for dialogue that will inspire educators to consider new and collaborative ways of engaging in documentation. Documenting with children amplifies the potential of making children’s capabilities visible. Appreciating children as co-authors and architects of their own learning offers an alternative to the inherited ways of documenting. Mutual participation in thinking, learning and documenting together alleviates educators from the focus of working in isolation. A re-evaluation of the purpose and intent of our work in companionship with children.
