Nature’s Playground: cultivating early learning in the outdoors (3-part online series)

Description

February dates – 5, 12 and 19 February 4.30pm – 6.00pm

September dates – 4, 11 and 18 September 4.30pm – 6.00pm 

The first 2 sessions of this series will support educators to craft outdoor learning spaces that beckon children to explore, discover, wonder, move, negotiate, collaborate and connect.

We will discuss the important benefits of being outdoors, risky play, the nexus between play in nature and sustainability and how you might include opportunities for all children to learn in, with, for and from nature

The third session will equip educators to plan for regular walking excursions beyond their service.

This series is suitable for all teachers and educators.

Fiona Harris

Fiona is an experienced early childhood teacher and has taught in several preschool settings over the past 30 years. Her interest is in sustainability and place-based nature pedagogy, helping children connect in the community. She is also interested in children’s art making and literature and views pedagogy as an ethical discipline.
