Exploring the visual arts: building your knowledge and skills to enrich childrens' arts languages

The visual arts include a range of techniques that children use to express, communicate, and explore their thinking and ideas.  During this day we will investigate the role of visual arts in children’s learning and participate in some hands-on experiences with art materials.

Dr Gai Lindsay

Prior to completing her PhD and commencing as a lecturer in the University of Wollongong Early Years team, Gai worked as a preschool teacher and director for 22 years. Her research and teaching aim to inform and promote high quality visual arts pedagogy and support positive educator self-efficacy beliefs and pedagogical content knowledge. John Dewey's philosophies of art, education and democracy and the pedagogical influences of the Reggio Emilia Approach are particular interests.
