Visual Arts and Inclusion-Creative expression and exploration for children of all abilities

Recommend course:

Description

The visual arts invite children to explore their world in multi-sensorial ways and to communicate their understandings and thoughts, using various media. As educators, the support you provide in removing barriers to participation for children with disabilities or developmental differences, significantly impacts the success and richness of children’s experiences in visual art.

In this webinar, we will examine inclusion and the visual arts through both pedagogical/theoretical and practical lenses. We explore the inclusive benefits of visual arts, how our values and perceptions impact our work, and the educator role. We will then shift our focus to practice – exposing all children to artworks and artists, planning for rich media exploration, making adaptations to remove barriers and meet individual needs and listening to one preschool’s journey of practice enrichment.
