This workshop will help participants to think critically about the value of exploring our communities beyond the centre environment. It will support educators to plan safe, interesting excursions into nature with groups of young children. It will also equip educators with new understandings of place based educational pedagogy to enliven and enrich curriculum. The session will include a walk to a local space to consider risk management planning and the learning opportunities afforded by the site.
Completing Stepping into Nature: the practice and pedagogy of nature play beyond the gate will contribute 5 hours of NESA registered PD addressing 3.3.2 and 6.2.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.
