As we observe children in play, we know they are natural problem-solvers and creative thinkers. Our goal as teachers is to recognize these learning opportunities and extend and enable learning. However, when we consider our children's learning in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) sometimes this can be challenging.
This hands-on day will explore each of the content areas in STEM, looking at how we can facilitate deep learning for 3-5 year old's. The session will explore the pillars of STEM (science, technology, engineering & mathematics) and then focus on STEM processes for learning. Come prepared for some hands-on fun as you become a play-based STEM expert!
This day is suitable for all early childhood professionals working with children 3-5 years.
Completing Young Children ARE Engineers: Exploring Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) will contribute 6 hours of NESA registered PD addressing 2.6.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.
