NESA Endorsed - Education for Sustainability 1 day workshop

NESA Endorsed - Education for Sustainability 1 day workshop

This one day workshop consists of the following 2 parts:

Part 1 - Education for Sustainability Principles

Why is sustainability important to each of us, what is sustainability and how does the interrelationship of our decisions impact on the planet? During this workshop participants will explore why these questions are important in early childhood education. Utilising multimedia, case studies, research and discussion, participants will begin to:
  • Articulate why living more sustainably is important for the Planet, now and into the future;
  • Apply this learning to future decision making.

Part 2 - Creating a Living Philosophy

How does your philosophy guide your actions? Participants will explore this question through guided discussions supported by contemporary research and theoretical frameworks. During the workshop, participants will also reflect on their current practices and revise their personal philosophy to ensure it is inclusive of "Education for Sustainability".  The objective is that participants will go away with strategies to influence the development of their service philosophy so that it is a living document that sits at the forefront of their educational decision making.

Completing Education for Sustainability 1-day Workshop will contribute 5 hours of NESA registered PD addressing 2.1.2 and 6.2.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.
