KU brings the challenge of living more sustainably to early education communities with Becoming Eco Smart Together (BEST), because we care. Join this introduction session to discover the BEST program, why it is important, and how it supports the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. You will be introduced to the 4 Big Ideas that underpin our work with young children.
Part 2 – BEST: Developing a philosophy for sustainability
Date: Thursday 4 March
Developing a philosophy for sustainability, will guide educators through changes in theory and unpack some ethical dilemmas being faced as we move towards a more sustainable world.
Resources will be shared to support a review of the service philosophy.
Part 3 – BEST: Where do I start? Conducting an audit, developing a vision
Thursday 11 March
Finding a beginning can be daunting, this session will introduce participants to an environmental audit which can identify strengths and opportunities.
We will then discuss involving many in the development of your Dream- vision centre, creating a plan for progress.
Part 4 – BEST: Transforming your practice
Date: Thursday 18 March
Education for Sustainability is transformative, in this session we will share a model for change that embeds the NQS exceeding themes. We will practice using the model with the UNESCO competencies for change as we consider sustainable celebrations.
This event is suitable for all early childhood professionals.
