Description

Sustainability Twilight Tour - KU West Pymble - Children's Agency in Action - KU Staff Only

This event will showcase KU West Pymble Preschool's philosophy and practice with regard to Education for Sustainability and recognize the practice that won them both an IEU Sustainability award and an ECEEN SPROUTs award in 2019.

Educators participated in a KU Professional Learning program called Becoming Eco Smart, which involved several professional learning sessions together with mentoring sessions.

Educators attune to the children's observations and questions, are co-learners with children and families, participating in many projects throughout the year. These projects included thinking about waste, water, pollution, habitats and our relationship with place and each other. These projects elevated the preschool communities understanding of rights and responsibilities as community citizens, the children's initiatives and actions for their community will be shared with participants.

Participants will hear stories from educators as well as have an opportunity to observe the practices the centre employs to teach sustainability. There will be opportunity to explore the rich learning environments and participate in some simple hands on learning opportunities. The session aims to invigorate participants in their own journeys of inquiry with children as they discover what it means to live in this place, at this complex time in our world.
