Managing Child Safety and Wellbeing Concerns Training - KU Staff Only

The Child Safety and Wellbeing workshop covers:

  • Current trends in child protection policy and practice (i.e. mandatory reporting requirements, identifying and responding to abuse and neglect concerns
  • The role of educators in engaging and supporting vulnerable children and their families who may be at risk of harm
  • Elements of a 'child safe' organisation - duty of care/professional practice/interactions with children/professional boundaries/ safeguards for educators
  • KU's process of reporting complaints and concerns - types of complaints/who to notify/procedural fairness/notification obligations etc.

It is a regulatory requirement for all staff in services who have contact with children to be aware of current child protection laws and obligation. To ensure this requirement is met, it is a KU expectation that all staff attend this training every three years.
